Today was going to be a great day, I could feel it! It had snowed last night, so I woke up to a lovely Winter Wonderland~! Everything was white and calm, it looked so beautiful. Even better, the sky was covered with light gray clouds so the snow wasn't blinding me when I walked out of my house.
I was wearing a nice, warm winter coat, jeans, and a long (f/c) scarf I'd gotten last Christmas from my best friend, which I loved to death. Even wrapped around my neck twice, the scarf was still pretty long. It was my favorite scarf.
I continued to walk into town, enjoying the view of snow-covered streets and buildings. A couple people were walking around also, either enjoying the view like me or totally irritated by it. Most people were heading for the coffee shops to get their day started.
Unlike them, my goal was to get to the park. It would look way better now with this lovely white blanket from the heavens! The park was sort of depressing in the beginning of winter, with its dead, bare trees and browning grass, not a living soul to be found. Nobody wanted to go to the park when it looked like that. But now was totally different!
A light, freezing wind picked up as I finally reached the park, nipping the tip of my nose. I could feel my cheeks and the tip of my ears begin to burn with heat, trying to keep me warm. It was freezing cold, but I didn't care. Not with the amazing scene that lay ahead. A long white pathway extended in front of me, frosted branches from trees on each side of the path stretching over top, making it feel like it was some kind of magical entrance to a new world.
As I slowly walked down the path, I could hear the distant laughter of kids and an airplane fly by high up somewhere.
After about half an hour of walking, I came to a split in the path, one going to the right, one going to the left. The path on the left was still untouched and fresh with snow. The path on the right though had footprints that continued up it and a big human-like indention at the beginning as if someone had fallen from the sky and landed there. Weird...
Curiosity getting the best of me, I continued down the path with the footprints. The footprints still looked pretty fresh, making me a little nervous. The person that walked up this path and I were the only ones that were around here at the moment. Just because it was cold outside didn't mean that crazy people weren't still out there...
No no, stop that! Just getting yourself worked up for nothing probably-
I stopped as I looked further down the path. To my surprise, the footprints led to a rather tall looking man with short, grayish-tan hair and a long coat that almost matched. Brown boots were pulled just below his knees over green pants.
The strange man was sitting on a bench, hunched over, his head in his hands. He looked so sad, he almost seemed to emit an aura. Even with all that clothing, he looked...cold.
I would've felt sorry for him, but something was bothering me about this man. Something was wrong with this picture. And for some reason, it felt important. The longer I stared at him, the more it bothered me.
Then, finally, something clicked in my mind that made me realize what was wrong. At least, I hoped I knew, because after that, I got the craziest idea. It was a crazy thing to do, but I just had to do it.
Before I could decide against it, I began to walk up to the man quietly.
I stopped behind the bench and stared at the back of his neck. Luckily, he was too absorbed in his sulking to realize I was there.
Raising my hands to my neck, I slowly unwrapped my favorite scarf and looped it once around in my hands.
Oh god, what the hell am I doing...Am I really going to do this?
Pushing my thoughts away, I sucked in a deep breath and let it out.
It has to be done...
The man in front of me lifted his head away from his hands and slowly turned towards me.
Before either of us could register what was happening, I threw my scarf over his head and, to both our surprise, lightly kissed his forehead.
Then I ran off as fast as I could, suddenly embarrassed that I had kissed a random stranger on the forehead.
What the hell was that?! That wasn't part of the plan!!!
As I got farther away, I could hear the man calling out to me, but I was too scared to look back, much less come back.
Hopefully I wouldn't see this man again...
"Wait!!!" I stood there, confused as to why a random girl had put a scarf on me. I would have ran after her, but I was still trying to process what had happened.
It wasn't long until I lost sight of her. Did I...scare her off?
Sighing, I looked down at the scarf that she had given me. It reminded me very much of the one that I had, but different color. My original scarf had been lost on my way here, which is why I had been so upset. After all, that scarf was given to me by my older sister.
This scarf I had now was still warm from the girl. It was soft to the touch and felt surprisingly comfortable around my neck. My cheeks began to feel warm as I thought of her again.
How kind of her to give me this...
I suddenly felt a light burning sensation on my forehead. I reached up to touch it, remembering that it was from the girl when she had kissed my forehead. Warmth began to flow through me once more.
With this scarf, I felt whole again.
I looked down the path in the direction she had run off to and began to follow her footprints.
I must find this girl.
Why *bump* why *bump* why *bump* why...
I banged my head continuously on a tree, still trying to get over my embarrassment.
Why couldn't I have just left him alone? Why couldn't I just go down the path with no footprints? What if this guy saw me again? I sure hope he doesn't live around here...
My head resting on the tree, I closed my eyes and listened to the silence. Nothing made a sound, as if the world had stopped. Even the wind had stopped blowing. Even so, my face was becoming increasingly numb. After a couple minutes, I relaxed.
I could...almost fall asleep here...
Suddenly, I felt something wrap around my neck. Startled, I jerked backwards away from the tree and into someone's chest.
Freezing instantly, I slowly looked up to see curious blue-violet eyes and a soft smile. I backed away, my face feeling like it was on fire.
He- He found me!
"S-Sorry, I- huh?" I looked down and realized that my scarf was wrapped around my neck once more, but this time the left end was wrapped around the man's neck too, sort of connecting us.
The man smiled again. "You looked cold."
I watched the ground, half hiding my face in the scarf. "Um, thank you..."
He shook his head. "No. Thank you."
With that, he leaned forward and gently kissed my forehead. A sudden warmth burst through me, all the coldness I felt melting away.
We simply stood there, reveling in our warmth and smiling at each other.
~*^TIME SKIP OF AWESOMENESS^*~
After we had properly introduced ourselves, we continued to walk through the park quietly until I remembered something.
He glanced over at me. "Da?"
"Why were you so sad?"
He went silent for a little bit and then answered. "I had lost my favorite scarf."
I looked up at him in surprise. "So I was right, you were missing a scarf!"
I smiled, happy that I had been right. But then my face scrunched up in confusion. "But how did you lose it?"
Russia continued to smile. "I lost it when I jumped out of the plane."
My eyes widened in disbelieve. "A plane? As in, an airplane?!"
"Without a parachute," he added.
I shook my head. "That is so dangerous, I can't even."
"It is not dangerous if there is snow to break your fall. You should try it sometime."
"I don't know if you've noticed, but I'm not exactly made for jumping out of airplanes," I laughed.
He chuckled and took my hand into his as we went further into the white unknown.
I knew it would be a great day.
